Japanfs latest technologies to cope with environmental issues are ranked the highest in the world. Conventional technologies accumulated over long period of time are still considered precious assets. Environmental Veteransf Firms (EVF) has established a Non-profit Organization, namely a public corporation, to propose practical solutions for solving various environmental issues in a low cost approach. To go forward the activity, retired scientists and engineers have engaged in, using their vast and profound experiences and technologies cultivated during their days in commission. EVF would like to support sustainable development by gcustom-madeh environmental energy-system designed for the local area.

Hokuriku Electric Power Company (Toyama, Japan) and ENAX. Inc. (Tokyo, Japan) made a trial model of Li-Ion Electric Storage System for Power System Stabilization:  2008/06/02
@They will start performance test operation of the Model at Technical Research Center of Hokuriku Power Company at the coming August. And they say to do stepped up test operation of 250 KW model from 2010. ENAX will also accelerate their material research for cost reduction and technical development for longer life of Electric Storage System together with Fukui University. Large scale Electric Storage System is required to link many sources of ecological electric power.

Nissan Motor and NEC decided to commercialize highly efficient lithium ion battery   2008/05/19
@AESC (Automotive Energy Supply Corporation) will invest \12billion (about $115million) for next three years to establish new production line at Nissan Zama site. Annual production capacity will be started at 13,000 vehicles equivalent in 2009 and increased to 65,000 vehicles equivalent in future.

@Discussions about system of domestic emission trading are in last stages of the meetings at the Prime ministerfs, LDPfs, Environment Ministryfs and METIfs Offices. Environment Ministryfs Committee will issue some draft proposal of System Option on May 15th. Ideas to allocate finance for road construction to finance for environmental operation are also occurred in Government Party, however, it is feared that drastic change of governing laws is unavoidable to put these in execution.

@Technical Innovation Plan for Environment and Energy will be authorized on May 15th. On May 8th, Working Group of Technology Innovation Plan advised a principle to reduce 50% of global green house gas emission until 2050, including international contribution plans to reduce greenhouse gas emission and promotion plans to develop innovative environment and energy technologies, considering that Technologies of environment and energy should be internationally shared possession.

Three major automobile companies aim at Fuel Cell Vehicle(FCV) business timing around year of 2015, as per the investigation of Japan Automobile Research Institute(JARI).   2008/05/12
@Major automobile companies aim at FCV business timing around year of 2015. Honda quits continuing Accord hybrid for the next model year   2007/06/23
They quit hybrid in 08 MY Accord. To limit hybrid for Civic and the new sub compact brand, they will use diesel for larger vehicles such as Accord. Defer from Toyota, they set diesel as main stream technology for environment

Because of the change of the hybrid system based on Li-ion battery, the development and the production for NMH battery may take additional half a year. They will start to sell it from spring of 2009.

TORAY demonstrated DMFC which is using hydrocarbon electrolyte membrane.2006/02/27
The feature of TORAYfs electrolyte membrane is that sulfone group combine monomer and then polymerized. At the same proton conduction level, permeability of methanol was reduced by under 1/10, compared to that of fluorine systemhNafion117h. About durability, degradation is a few % after 2000 hours working.

KURARAY developed Electrolyte Membrane with free halogen 2006/02/06
Kuraray has developed an electrolyte membrane related to carbon hydride for methanol fuel cells (DMFC).Compared with conventional fluorine electrolyte membranes,the newly developed carbon hydride electrolyte membranes reduce methanol permeability during power generation by 40%,boosting maximum power output by 1.6 times.

NORITAKE developed electrolyte membrane, which can reduce permeability 2006/02/06
Noritake Co.Limited announced that permeability of methanol can be suppressed by 1/15 - 1/30,compared with conventional. Using inorganic material with less stretch as basic structure of membrane can suppress the swelling of organic electrolyte.

YAMAHA announced the 06f year model hybrid bicycle ePASf. 2006/01/26
YAMAHA increased the amount of NiMH battery of the 06 model to 3.1 Ah.The battery can be charged by putting it on the charger for 2 hours and its range is extended to 31km in the normal mode.

Honda to mass produce thin-film solar cell with the efficiency 12% from 2007 2005/12/22
The solar cell that Honda mass produce is the best@conversion efficiency of 12% in the thin film type.The consumption energy during the manufacturing process is half compared with an existing Si solar cell.
